Go beyond the classroom with Emory & Henry’s special study opportunities.
Emory & Henry has special study opportunities that enhance the educational experience, whether it is adventuring in the region’s mountains or travelling across the globe. There are also opportunities for students to enhance their education with additional opportunities with the Honors Program and the ROTC program allows students to earn a degree while pursuing goals in the United States Military.

Established in 2009, the Honors Program has continued to grow including around 90 current students and over 150 Honors Program Alumni from all over the world.
This is more than “which classes you take”
It’s about experiencing transformation, finding new connections, and life-changing opportunities in the world and inside yourself. The Emory & Henry Honors Program strives to build an unparalleled environment for the people who want to build and challenge themselves and the world around them.
The program is designed to challenge students to think critically, logically, and creatively so that they can not only do their best work but also use what they’ve learned to help better the world around them.
This culminates with an Honors Thesis, an extensive senior project that allows students the opportunity to pursue an in-depth exploration of an area of interest with the guidance of faculty mentors.
Investing in You
Honors students receive the highest merit scholarship available to incoming students, as well as a stipend to spend on academic resources.
Additionally, honors students have access to plenty of other benefits, including early course registration, Honors housing, funding for study abroad opportunities, advising and support for travel to conferences.
Emory & Henry’s International Education Programs enrich the learning experience as students become engaged with other cultures, belief systems, languages, and customs. Regardless of major, international experiences contribute to the success of students and add to what they bring to the academic program.
Our students travel the world, engage with other cultures, and end up with transformative experiences that expand their education.
Emory & Henry is an outdoor university, and this means that outdoor recreation and education are available to all E&H students. The Center for Outdoor Studies provides extra-curricular outdoor recreation activities on a weekly basis. In addition, students may enroll in two academic programs: The Semester-A-Trail and the Applied Risk Management and Backcountry Leadership concentration.
Army ROTC (Reserve Officers’ Training Corps) offers the broadest path for young men and women seeking to serve the nation as Army officers to achieve their goal.
At Emory & Henry you will work alongside peers and professors at East Tennessee State University (ETSU) to take ROTC classes that will lead you toward graduating in four years with a degree and the opportunity to serve your country.
Enjoy being a university student, and receive the tools, training, and experience that will enable you to graduate with a commission as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army.
