With a rapidly growing program, a variety of majors, ample performance opportunities, and passionate faculty, the Emory & Henry Department of Theatre, Music and Dance is recognized as one of the region’s finest.

Theatre and Dance

Emory & Henry’s Theatre and Dance programs are for students serious about pursuing a career in the theatre. We offer preprofessional conservatory-style training, embedded in a rigorous small liberal arts school environment.

We also offer a variety of degrees so you can study what YOU want.  Our small class-sizes mean personal attention and more opportunities for you — on stage and off.  Our unique and dynamic association with the Barter Theatre, the State Theatre of Virginia, means our students get hands-on experience with professional theatre artists throughout their four-year degree.

Music

Here we dream big while striving and encouraging our students to accomplish those dreams.

The Music program at Emory & Henry does a lot of big things that most schools our size don’t have the ability to do — We offer the unique ability to create a highly personalized musical experience for our students, no matter what their musical interests are. Our faculty is dedicated to encouraging and driving our students to develop their skills in private applied lessons or in our internationally recognized performing ensembles.

Whether you are interested in attending graduate school in music or beginning a career as a public school music teacher, a major in music at Emory & Henry can lead you toward where you want to go.
