President’s Invitation

Lou Fincher

Dear Emory & Henry alumni and friends,

Now in my 11th year at our historic University, I have learned what you know so well—Emory & Henry is a place of lasting connections. For our students, these connections begin in first-year residence halls and grow over their time here to include connections with faculty who teach classes, coaches who train and prepare our Division II athletic teams, and fellow students in clubs, fraternities and sororities. They expand to include the communities of Abingdon and Marion and continue throughout the whole of Southwest Virginia. Our connections to one another as well as to Appalachia define our University and us.

Through the Collective Connections Campaign, we are strengthening our regional impact and national reach. The generosity of our donors is enabling us to complete the new Food City Sports Complex, create new or enhance existing merit-based and need-based scholarships, and broaden horizons for our students through international study and internship funds. It will also allow us to build a new home at exit 26 on I-81 for our nationally recognized Intermont Equestrian Program at Emory & Henry.

American higher education is confronting challenges unlike any it has ever faced. Emory & Henry is well positioned to meet these challenges. With your generous support, we will become even more resilient and will continue to offer life-changing opportunities to our students. Please join us.
